Roly Hermans has the official blog for the Gallipoli painting project, Mustering the Troops, up and running. I have registered for 40 figures and have received the first 19 of those. So far Neil and Warren have signed up to help, and I am dropping off 10 figures to Neil this afternoon. If anyone else would like to join in please let me know. We would love to have you on board :-)

I would get the figures to you and collect them. The deadline is the end of March. Your role would be to clean them up - there is not much flash, and paint them following the painting guide on the blog - we have to use our own paints but they are all colours we can use for other projects. You do not need to register on the blog unless you want to get your own bag of 40 figures.

If you have any questions or need more information, please see Roly's message below or contact me.

Best regards
Vince

Sir Peter Jackson needs Wairarapa wargamers

Wairarapa wargamers can take part in Sir Peter Jackson's Gallipoli commemoration project. This story was in the Dominion Post this morning http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/65526114/Wargamers-needed-to-help-create-Gallipoli-diorama

The first of the figures arrived in the country a few days ago and Rhys Jones gave us 19 yesterday. In total, we will be getting 40 figures to paint and are making this a club project. If you would like to join in, please call Vince Cholewea on (w) 04 817 8560, (h) 379 6107, (m) 027 344 1073, or email toysoldiers111@gmail.com

The official blog for the project is to go live tomorrow. Here is a link to the preliminary info on Roly Hermans' blog

"Team Wairarapa" at ValleyCon

Ten Wairarapa wargamers travelled to the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club's annual ValleyCon at the weekend. Thank you to Tom Leamy and his team for putting on a great fun convention.

Alistair, Peter, David, Ross, Warren, Vince, Andrew, Phil, Craig and club president, James made the trip over the hills and far away to the Upper Hutt YMCA.

Andrew played in the Ancient and Medieval competition, finishing third with Late Imperial romans.
Warren (Germans) and David (British) at each other during the World War 2 competition.

Phil, consulting the auguries. Phil also played in the Ancient and Medieval competition, using French Ordonnance.

Alister (right) organised a refight of the American Civil War Battle of Shiloh. Craig, a chap whose name I do not know, and James also played. Harley and Ceilidh also made the trip from the 'Rapa to check out the gaming.

Peter played in the Warmachine competition using Circle of Orboros. In the background to the left is Tom Leany the Hutt Club president.

A view of part of the hall.

Vince is not in the photos because that is me and I was taking the pics! Except the team photo which a fellow wargamer kindly took for us. I played in the Ancient and Medieval competition with Thracians and was doing okay until I lost my last game. I left having had a great time and keen for more :-)

Sir Peter Jackson needs Kiwi wargamers

Here’s the chance for New Zealand wargamers to volunteer for a massive modelling project to commemorate Gallipoli, led by Sir Peter Jackson and using never-seen-before figures by the Perry twins!
This link is to an open letter to New Zealand wargaming clubs from Rhys Jones, a fellow wargamer and also the former Chief of the New Zealand Defence Force: https://arteis.wordpress.com/2015/01/21/sir-peter-jackson-needs-kiwi-wargamers/

"Team Wairarapa" at ValleyCon, January 24-25

The Marauders will be well represented at the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club's annual ValleyCon, January 24-25. "Team Wairarapa"will be at least seven strong, playing Ancients, American Civil War, World War 2, and Warmachine and Hordes. Others are planning to travel too, to check out the games, talk toy soldiers and see what's available to buy and sell.

Andrew Brazendale (Late Imperial Romans), Vince Cholewa (Thracians),  and Phil Gates (French Ordonnance) will be playing in the Ancient "bring a friend" competition. That is, each army must include an ally of a different nation. The Romans are bringing Franks, the Thracians are bringing Greek mercenaries, and the French are bringing Swiss mercenaries.

Alistair Ramsden has organised a large, multi-player American Civil War refight of the Battle of Shiloh. Club President, James Trotman, will be among those taking part.  This will be a demonstration game not a competition.

Warren Hart (Germans) and David Kinzett (British) will be playing in the World War 2 competition. The rules are divided into three periods: early, mid, and late war. This year the competition is mid-war. The Flames of War rules are published by New Zealand company, Battlefront, which also makes the the models and figures. They have become the international standard for World War 2 gaming.

Peter Williamson will be using Circle of Orboros in the Warmachine and Hordes competition. These are fun Science Fiction and Fantasy rules that are fully compatible with each other so Warcasters' and Warlocks' forces can battle each other.
Team Wairarapa, come back with your shields or on them!

Hutt Club, be afraid, be very afraid!
